Alex Cortez is a managing partner focused on K-12 systems change at New Profit, a national nonprofit venture philanthropy. Before joining New Profit, Alex served as chief of staff, strategy and execution for KIPP Houston Public Schools. He also served at the KIPP Foundation as a regional director of network growth and sustainability and was a consulting manager at the Bridgespan Group. Alex graduated with a B.A. in political science from Columbia University, received his MBA from Harvard Business School and his MPA from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. Originally from New Orleans, Alex currently resides in Brookline, Massachusetts with his partner, Jenny, and her daughter, Alexis.
