Samaris Rose-Smith is a full-time parent organizer and community activist from Bridgeport, Connecticut. She has been a professional advocate of charter schools for over three years and an advocate of the communities in Bridgeport for almost 10 years. A mother of five energetic boys and wife to her childhood sweetheart, she enjoys helping people and finding solutions to the problems that face her community—particularly regarding access to high-quality education. Two of Samaris' sons attend Capital Prep Harbor School in Bridgeport. Samaris is also involved in various volunteer efforts that include being a mentor at a college preparedness program for low-income families, a volunteer at a community policing after-school program, a co-chair for a support group working to serve mothers with at-risk children and sitting on the Juvenile Justice Review board.
