Chawanna B. Chambers

Chawanna B. Chambers is a national award-winning and board certified pre-K-20 career educator with teaching experience spanning primary, secondary and higher education. Currently, she is a curriculum developer and summer assistant director of curriculum for a New England nonprofit organization and teaches undergraduate and graduate education courses online. Chawanna earned her B.A. in multidisciplinary studies from Texas Lutheran University, where she graduated magna cum laude. After her successful tenure at TLU, Chawanna went on to obtain an M.Ed. in educational administration from Grand Canyon University and a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from Capella University. Chambers is currently enrolled in George Mason University’s Graduate Certificate program for blended and online learning in K-12 Schools. She has taught K-12 English online, coordinated Title I after-school tutoring programs, served as a reading intervention teacher, helped plan and facilitate advisory programs, developed curriculum, supported teachers as an instructional coach, and served in several other leadership capacities. In addition to being named New Teacher of the Year in 2009, the National Council for Teachers of English awarded her with one of its Early Career Educator awards, and she received the Principal’s Award on her campus in 2010. In 2016, Chawanna founded Single Seed Enrichment School, Inc., which is a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the educational experiences of Pre-K-12 children in San Antonio, Texas. Single Seed is one part of the legacy she wants to leave in the world—one that actualizes the lived experiences of each child who chooses to learn.
