New Principal Standards: From Preparation and Licensure to Recruitment to Evaluation and PD - States and Districts Can't Stop Short at Adoption

Cortney Rowland is on point regarding the release of new principal standards later this month. As she observes at AIR's Ed Policy Center, the update to the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) Standards is overdue. But states and districts must not stop short and declare the job over simply by adopting them.
Standards are only as good as their implementation. Many states and school districts have school leadership standards written into their policies or regulations, yet do very little to align those standards with other components of their human capital management systems.
