Boston’s New Superintendent, Tommy Chang, Reduces Number of Tests

Boston’s new superintendent, Tommy Chang, believes in using assessments that “capture a fuller view of critical thinking and performance,” and he’s starting by  reducing the number of less informative multiple-choice tests required by the district throughout the school year. As Massachusetts debates a shift of its statewide assessment to PARCC, Chang also offers his endorsement of that test and the Common Core standards.
