Monica Candal Rahim has worked in the education sector for over 10 years—as a classroom teacher, researcher, bureaucrat, policy analyst and advocate. Her research has focused on training and professional development in mathematics for elementary teachers, on the experiences of Black youth in middle schools, and on parent involvement among minority parents. She is principal at Education Research Solutions, a consulting firm that works with nonprofit organizations, charter schools, and foundations around a range of educational issues, including ESSA implementation, early learning systems, and authentic stakeholder engagement. She is also the editor at EdLIFE, a website for teachers about everything that isn’t teaching.
