Erin Fox

Erin Fox is the 2018 South Carolina Teacher of the Year. Erin has taught English for 13 years at Gaffney Senior High School in the Cherokee County School District. She has also served as a Varsity and Junior Varsity Girls' Cross Country coach for three years. Erin holds a bachelor of science in English Education from Western Carolina University and a master's in gifted and talented education from Converse College. She has taught all levels of learners in English I-III as well as advanced drama, drama I, introduction to drama, theatrical movement, and academic assistance. Fox pulls from her dramatic, dance and musical background to create dynamic lessons and units for her students. In her roles as a teacher and cross country coach, she ensures that her students are challenged everyday. She strives to teach them “an inner drive” that will carry them further than just a 5K course, classroom, or school year. Erin also believes in the necessity of optimal health and wellness and the positive overall effects it has on student achievement and success. Erin and her husband Danny have two children: nine-year-old Jack and 5-year-old Scout. Erin is originally from Murphy, North Carolina and is the daughter and granddaughter of teachers.
